Leisure, Respite and Recreation

The aim is to provide a range of activities for disabled young people and to support families both in and out of their home. For more details on our leisure services please contact Tracey Riley on admin@parentsconsortium.co.uk

Kidscamp

Kidscamp is our well established holiday activity scheme providing activities for children & young people with severe or/and profound impairments aged between 5 and 17 years inclusive, living in the Dartford, Gravesham and Swanley area. Specifically Kidscamp provides activities for a maximum of 22 children & young people a day, throughout the main school holidays, with the option for 6 children & young people to stay residentially during the Summer and Easter holidays. Children must be referred by social services to be eligible for this service.

Four permanent staff members’ co-ordinate and ensure the smooth running of the Kidscamp service throughout the year. This entails the challenge of employing 65 seasonal staff to work directly with the young people, 6 group leaders and 1 cook.  We have developed for all our staff a very comprehensive range of training and personal development opportunities.  One of our major tasks is ensuring that the service meets the registration requirements laid down by the Commission for Social Care inspection.

We aim to offer the children and young people a range of new and exciting activities at Kidscamp in order to develop existing likes and interests, and to encourage them where possible to choose activities they like or prefer. Activities include visits to zoo’s, barge trips, swimming, home based activities and many more.
